AZGFD Hunt unit reports

Does anyone know how often the Hunt Unit reports are updated? Unit 27 still shows informaiton from a prescribed burn from two years ago. Are these updated yearly? If so when do they generally get posted?

The unit 27 hunting report has been the same for years, with the exception of the burn reports. It is a generic overview at best.
Check the (Apache)National Forest website for more detailed info on burns and forest trail closures.

The hunt Unit descriptions are in the process of being updated. They should be completed and posted by the end of the month. If you have specific questions regarding Unit 27 call the AGFD Pinetop (Region I) office at 928-367-4281 and ask to talk with the Wildlife Manager for the Unit.

17ABWM, judging from your handle and advice I'm guessing you are the wildlife manager for 17 A and B? I hope you change the information for 17A because I put it down as my 2nd choice this year and is my best chance of drawing a tag. Looks like I need to find some new areas. I had the same hunt last year and I have probably been drawn for this unit a dozen or more times over the last 30 years. Last year I hunted hard and only saw 13 deer. The only buck was a forker with one side broke off. It seems I hunt harder and smarter (glassing more and hunt wilderness areas) and I see a lot less game than I ever used too.

I love the unit mostly for sentimental reasons. Information about recent controlled burns would be great to include. JMO
