That could mean trouble for me and a couple of friends. Sometimes this site is the only thing that keeps us from losing it. Let me explain: Here's one example of what a teacher goes through. I was trying to help a kid through a math problem the other day. The problem went like this: If you buy a yearly subscription for a monthly magazine, and it costs you $15.00 for the year, how much will each magazine cost? The kid had no clue how to do it, so I use a "simple problem example". I said, "Let's pretend that it only cost $10.00, and you just get two magazines. Now, how much would each one cost?" The kid thinks a minute, and then responds with, $20.00. Trying to break this down a little further, I say, "Okay, lets just say you have $10.00 and you need to split it evenly into two pockets." "How much would you put into each pocket?" The kid responds with, "$5.00." Great! Now we're getting somewhere. "How did you come up with the $5.00?" He responds with,"subtract?" No, the only numbers you have to work with are $10.00 and 2 pockets. So, how did you come up with $5.00? He thinks?????????? and finally says, "I do chores." So I quietly turn my back and beat myself on the forehead! Calgone can't take us away, so looking at this site for just a few minutes, once in a while, helps us keep our patience and sanity. Just so you know, this was not an elementary school. Most teachers really try to do their very best, but sometimes, for various reasons, it is difficult to reach in, and pull something out.
