Wearing your body retrieval beacon I expect? Digging a pit to decide how safe a slope is is kinda like spinning the cylinder on a revolver with more than one round in it. Sooner or later you're going to be toast. Glad you were not toast this time and hope you have learned something.

Yeah, I learned to stay off the 30-45 degree slopes. Flat or steep on avy days...
