I have used a Nikon Gold 1200. It has been very reliable and reads consistently to 700 yards in poor conditions and 900 if good conditions and 1100 yds in perfect conditions. Of course in heavy snow flakes or perfectly flat shapeless desert nothing works well. I use mine ALOT here in IDAHO doing year round long range shooting. New ~$330 and used ~$200. Newer Nikon Rifleman 1000 with angle adjustment works just as good, EXCEPT, it has an internal light to try and illuminate the reticle but just makes the interior glow and is useless for the first 30 minutes of light.
