Yes there is a preference points system, 75% of the tags go to the top pool. The deer draw does not distinguish between residency for tag allocation, just price. Sheep has a 10% nonresident cap.Only one nonresident tag can be issued for elk or antelope. It's about $200 for a nonresident licence plus the application fees, about $250. Probably not worth it.

They still allow hunting in California? I thought it was shut down because hunting was known to cause cancer in that state?

Does CA allow NR to apply this year? Or would it be best for NR to just go to work and make extra cash?

Apply instead next year? Or wait and apply in 7 years?

There’s a great crop of ground squirrels in California this season, I’ve seen some big animals already and it’s still early in the season. California have an incentive program where for every bum you relocate out of state they’re going to give you a 50% off your first three squirrels. Now that’s progressive.
