Boulder Mtn. Turkey Hunt (Early)

Haven't been down to the Boulders for a Turkey Hunt in three years....(taking that long to long draw!) Wondering how the hunt has been? I want to apply with my son, but have heard that the amount of birds are way down. Thanks so much!

It is bad. Not to scare you away. We have hunted it for years and last year was worst I've seen. We wondered what has happened. Come to find out ranchers in Antimony built a cannon to kill them. They bait them in in the winter and have filled their homemade cannon with all kinds of shrapnel. They kill a whole group off at a time. They have nearly decimated that whole Boulder flock. The east side has been worse. They are killing a lot of birds on these fall hunts. We've moved onto other areas. Turkeys like the deer are in the toilet on Boulder.

My son and a nephew hunted the Boulder two years ago. We saw one hen and we didn't hear a single gobble in two full days of hunting.
We also went elsewhere and ran into more hunters than birds.
It was sad and a big waste of several points!
