Heading to Cabelas in Ft. Worth Tomorrow. Plan on spending all of my money and my wifes money in there this weekend. Wish me luck and pray that I make it out alive, because my wife may kill me before we get out of there.

Have a good time. It's definately one of my favorite toy stores. Be sure to hit the bargain cave. Some great bargains there.

I got out of the store for less than 200. My wife spent almost as much as me. Got some good stuff for the upcoming 3D shooting season and spring turkey season. Beautiful store with lots of goodies to play with and amazing animals to dream about.

I overheard a rumor that Cabela's is planning on opening a store in Albuquerque. Any validity to that rumor? My wife won't be happy if its true!!!

MBBGH

I heard they were going to open it over on the west side.
I'm just praying they do to have a cabelas and sportsmans warehouse would be awesome!!!

I would love to have one within a few hours. The requirements Cabelas has to place a retail store are:

1. Minimum of 22 acres of land - will consider up to 100 if stand-alone Store concept
2. Will consider anchoring or/& leasing retail developments
3. Will consider empty "Big Box" style stores (min. 85,000 sq. feet)
4. Prefer 1 million people within a 30 mile radius
5. Prefer to be within 20 miles of a metro area
6. Excellent frontage and interstate access and visibility
7. Existing or funded Interstate Interchange
8. Community Development Incentive packages required
9. No franchising

I think they may be a little short for #4. But, if it goes in WAHOO!

I asked a guy at the Bass Pro in Phoenix if they were going to open a store in Albuqeurque in the future and he said as far as he knew that NM wasn't a location that the company was looking at. They have a research type company that polls and researches possible cities/areas to see if there is enough of a demand for the products sold and that all though NM and Albuquerque in specific had a growing population, there still was not enough to open that size of an outdoor retail store. I'm thinking that Cabelas does the same type shop scouting and I really don't see them coming. I think for now the Sportsmans Warehouse has NM to themselves...

Someone working at Sportsman's warehouse told me that they had bought the property where the old Sandia Casino used to be and were going to set up a Cabel's there! Said because of the interstate traffic they would not need as big a population. Rumors rumors rumors, lets hope where there is smoke there is some fire!!!
