Camera/ Camcorder

Just wondering what type of digital camera and outdoor camcorder to purchase. The equiptment I have now is junk, and I would love to be able to take photos with the kind of quality as some of you other guys. (i.e. DeerKing, The Knack) Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

I know that a lot of guys used the canon GL1 or GL2. GL2 has the audio package offered with it most of the time. Panasonic and others have put out comparable if not better cameras since.
Either way they still produce great digital footage. As far as digital cameras, I too am looking for one. I'm still shooting slide film on a 35mm and want to upgrade to digital.
