Central Uintas Goats

Anyone hunted this unit for goats. I just returned from a trip on the south and only saw a handful of goats with a couple billies. I had been told to expect to see a lot of goats, but was disappointed when I did not. My group rode eleven miles back in near Mt. Emmons. I know there are a lot of goats around red castle, but I have heard a few of the tag holders will be in that area. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Not as many Goats being Seen or Located recently on the South Slope!

Access on the Central Units Ain't as Easy as Units to the West or East!

As it Starts Cooling off a little You'll See more of them!

Lots of Glassing & Don't Shoot one that you can't get in to,to Retrieve,It Happens Quite Often!

Thanks elkassassin. You aren't just a kidding about the access on the south slope. The trail we rode in on is rugged to say the least. There are several places where our horses were climbing or descending a slope on slabs of stone. Not for the faint of heart. My buddy and I chose this area due to the difficult accessibility hoping it would limit other hunters.

Are you saying the goats are a little further north due to the warmer weather in August?
