I'm very tempted to try for a 3 rd season tag this year with 11 points. Never hunted or reconed this area. Has anyone hunted this unit 3 rd season in the last few years.?
If so , what was the result & would you recommend this area again ?? Any help or advice would be appreciated ! I'd plan to Motel in Gunnison or maybe pull a Travel Trailer there to cut the travel time to hunt areas. Thanks very much !

I agree also.
Yes you should try to draw that hunt. I haven’t looked at the statistics to see if 11 resident points will get it but if so then do it.
Last year I was hunting a different unit and I stayed in Gunnison at the Western Motel during 3rd and the first part of 4th season. The rooms are reasonably priced and clean. They let me set up my little propane barbecue outside the door and I could usually park in the first spot in front of the room. If you have a comfortable camper trailer you may want to use it to cut down on the drive time like you said. Maybe take a preseason scouting trip to look things over and get a game plan. Just be careful because the roads can get really slick when wet.
Good luck in the draw.

If I had the points, I would hunt it.

What unit(s) are clearly better than 66 right now? I don’t think there are any...

Thanks for your help buckhorn ! Very appreciated & helpful since I'm starting from zero.
Yes-- I'll take a scouting trip there in Sept & get a plan to hunt it right & hope for decent
weather. Yes-- those roads can get messy fast, always a concern. Again, thank you & I hope to draw tag & enjoy & connect. I'm 73 & my wife worries all the time about
my hunting trips. It should be fun ! Best Wishes & Good Hunting!! Jerry Gold ??
