Commissioners Inappropriate Tag Donations

Mr. Shaul, a Jackson resident, he filed the complaint in Teton County's 9th District Court Clerk’s Office; it is assigned to Judge Timothy Day, records show. The two commissioners named are Commissioner Ralph Brokaw and Commissioner Gay Lynn Byrd.

WYOGA is ineligible under Wyoming law to receive the licenses, which are meant to go to nonprofit charitable organizations that serve the “general public,” the complaint says.

Complimentary licenses are often donated for fundraisers for different wildlife groups and projects.

Game and Fish regulations require an authorized officer of the nonprofit charitable organization to “certify under penalty of law that the respective organization is a nonprofit charitable organization … which engages in activities providing the general public with benefits designed to aid in educational, moral, physical, conservation or social improvement and which is not established for profit,” it says.

WYOGA is not registered as a 501(c)(3) organization but as a 501(c)(6) “business league … designed to promote the business conditions for the line of business for the members of the organization,” it says, to benefit and advocate “for the WYOGA members, not the general public.” https://pinedaleroundup.com/article/pinedale-native-rob-shaul-sues-wgfd

It’s part of the bigger problem with these Commissioner and Governor’s licenses. These guys though non-profit unlike the Outfitters Association, make a fortune off selling them which is good for wildlife but seems like a circus act with all the raffles, banquets and drawings to feather and line their pockets instead of wildlife. In 2018, according to the IRS, Coursey and MFF co-founder, Joey Faigl, each paid themselves a salary of over $132,000 for an organization with with one employee and an annual budget of $786K. As a comparison, G&F Director Brian Nesvik's salary is $125,000/year, Governor Gordon's, $105,000, and a Senior Game Warden makes $65,000/year.
The problem is that a huge source of MFF funding comes through donated G&F Commissioner Complimentary Licenses - we're talking over $300,000 between 2008 and 2018.

Over the past 3 years alone, MFF been by far the largest recipient of Commissioner tags - 10 in 2019, 7 in 202 and 8 in 2021 - or twenty-five in the last three years!

Most of these tags are sold/auctioned/raffled to nonresidents as limited quota elk tags and bring in $18,000-25,000 each. So, if we use a conservative price of $20,000 each, MFF has received $500,000 in funding from the sale of Commissioner Tags since 2019 - it's like MFF is a mini-Game & Fish Department!

Because MFF has essentially become dependent on receiving Commissioner Tags, Coursey has no incentive to stir things up by fighting for 90/10 and resident hunters. Both this year and last, Coursey and the Muley Fanatic Foundation were silent when the 90/10 bills came before the legislature. MFF never took a position. Sad. https://www.307hunter.com/articles/...ask-force-is-stacked-against-resident-hunters

The commissioner tags statement is a bit misleading, 90% of the sale price goes directly back to the state. So even though it shows 300k in revenue, 270k of that would be allocated to the state.

With that being said, no idea how those guys are getting those salaries and it is really sad as it takes away from the mission and those funds could be used to support a lot of projects.

If you sell $100,000 in raffle tickets for $20,000 worth of guns, optics and hunting gear merchandise and host dozens of $75 banquets it adds up fast. The donated big game licenses are what attracts and brings them in then they sell the merchandise raffles. It’s a circus show.

Wrong...exactly ZERO percent of commission tags goes back to the state. The sellers keep 100% of the money and can do what they want with all of it.

Not sure where you came up with this, but you better get your facts straight.

You really think a used car salesman, a railroad worker and a cop would be doing this if they had to give 90% back to the state? You are living in your dreams.....

It’s a racketeering endeavour anyway you slice it but I think they do give 90% back to Wildlife Conservation,

but not after they pocket far too much skimmed by the raffles, banquets and clown shows.

Right, Governors tags, which are different than Commissioners tags. Muley Fanatics is now in the Bison Governors tag game, which is different than Commission tags.

The way the Governors tags work is that the selling organization, in this case MFF for the bison, can only keep 10%. They can also have someone else sell the Governors tag for them and they work out a split on that 10%. It usually a 50-50 deal on the 10% if they aren't the primary seller.

Commission tags have ZERO strings attached and the organizations keep 100% of the funds from those.

Maybe it’s all that Texas inbreeding which caused you to fail reading comprehension.
Haha! It was you that did not comprehend what you screenshot (after Googling) and posted stats on Gov Tags. Maybe you should go back to pretending to be a wildlife biologist and let Buzz continue posting facts since he is the real expert.

I certainly won’t defend MFF as it’s a clown show but they do give 90% back from the GOVERNOR’s Tags back to Wildlife Conservation and not back to the state but back to the Coalition but your failed recognition of this is apparent. :devilish::alien::devilish::alien::devilish::alien:

Well lets clear this up once and for all because this^^^ is not correct: seller keeps all of Commissioner tag proceeds, 10% of Governor tag sales except for bison, for which the seller gets to keep 30%.

Are we confused yet?

Yup! Lol…?

Now the Governor and the attorney General double down on illegal donations to WYOGA. These people are CORRUPT.

“Most Commissioner Complimentary Licenses are auctioned off as limited quota elk tags and bring in $18,000 to $25,000 apiece. That the WYOGA could raise up to $50,000 from the sale of Wyoming elk tags and then use Wyoming's wildlife money to work against the interests of resident hunters can't be ignored.

That the G&F Commissioners would even consider tag donations to the WYOGA demonstrates the corrupt influence the outfitters have over the Commissioners and the Department.

In our lawsuit, we asked the court to declare the WYOGA illegible from receiving donated Commissioner Tags and to force the G&F Commission to follow the statute.

Sounds reasonable, right?

Apparently not to Governor Gordon. Last week, the Attorney General's office - which works for him - filed an answer to our lawsuit in which he defended giving wildlife money to the Outfitters Association, and asked the judge to dismiss our case.

So why would he do that? Why would Governor Gordon favor giving wildlife money to a business organization which actively works against the interests of the 40,000 resident hunters who purchase a big game tag each year?

We don't know either.

Unless Governor Gordon, like his G&F Commissioners, is yet another corrupted puppet of the Outfitters.

So the Gov and AG are giving him the finger along with the attorneys that wouldn’t take his case and residents that only donated $300.

pretty impressive

Buzz and his crew are a joke, if 90/10 is passed it will be the 2nd day of there lives with only the day same sex marriage was allowed beating it. ??️‍??

Not true, 307hunter has raised thousands. His latest raffle patterned after MFF has allowed him to buy a new breast shaped swimming pool.

Hey @treedagain seems like lately your comments have a common theme. If you lay awake at night with urges most men don't have, you might just come out of the closet and get on with it.
Maybe you already have...
