Computer HELP

My computer somehow picked up a virus of some sort. It's a peice of software called "Antispyware Soft". I picked it up while using Google. Can somebody please help me get rid of it?

that tutorial might work. I had something similar happen and i had to take a completely different way about getting rid of it. Some of them are pretty malicious so if it doesn't work, lemme know and i'll walk you through what i had to do.

LAST EDITED ON May-23-10 AT 09:16AM (MST)[p]I got her fixed. What I did was a hard shutdown then I turned it on again and hit the delete button as soon the monitor lit up and that brought up a configuration page and I reset my defaults. It worked and I didn't lose anything. Thanx to you all for trying to help.

Well I'll leave it up to your interpretation. I was Googling up images of Snow Cocks to show a friend of mine that moved up to Elko, NV a few years ago because I want to go visit him and try to hunt these elusive birds. It sounds a little "porny" but it's far from porn.

McAfee and Norton are bloated junk.

Avast has worked well for all my Pirate buddies, and it's free.
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware works well for spyware and will also remove the vicious "AntiVirus 2008", 2009, and newer variations.

I use AVG and Spybot which are free. I tried Nortons years ago when I was a rookie puter owner and you are right Bob, they create more problems then they are worth and they're expensive.

They are the same people that sell the fix on Google from anywhere from 49.00-89.00 & most people still can't figure it out but they get your money.

their fix doesn't fix anything.

you really need to get some "real time" protection BeBop. It's not that hard to stay clean. Those "techs" don't do anything you can't do yourself. All that kid is going to do is run some anti virus on it, hose up your hard drive, reload your OS and tell you the virus f'd up your system.

I would scan your machine with something like Malwarebytes, spybot search and destroy etc... Then go in and delete your Temp Files folder (usually where these freakin' things set themselves).

Once you have done that, I would install AVG or Avast and set it up to do a daily full system scan and a convenient time for you. Those two work great, I prefer and run Avast.

I agree that these jokers that put this shiz out there need to be castrated. I have come to the conclusion that the same companies that create programs to fix em have a separate department in their basements full of dudes writing up these worms and trojans that break our systems in the first place.
