Coyote hunting during big game

Probably some people will think these are dumb questions:
1. Lincese to hunt coyotes is free with a deer license
2. Can my 9 year old son shoot a coyote that was called in? Hunter Safety is dumb in Colorado neeeding kids to be 12 to be able to shoot a gun. Do they need to be 12 to hunt non-game coyotes? But coyotes aren't a game species so does the age limit + HS applie or just HS pass. He took the class when? he was 7 and hand killed a deer and antelope so far!
3. Since we are primarily deer Huntin.Will a 300wm work to shoot coyotes? Or will we need to be bring a second rifle to hunt coyotes. I don't want to get caught with 2 different rifles when there is only one person hunting deer. What do you guys think?

4. COYOTES: You can hunt coyotes without a small-game license during
big-game seasons if you have an unfilled big-game license. You can hunt
coyotes only in the same unit, season and manner of take as on your biggame
license. Once you fill your big-game license, you must buy a smallgame
or furbearer license to hunt coyotes. Harvesting a coyote does not
void your big-game license.

So he would need to have a small game license and his hunter safety. If you are hunting anything during a regular big game season then the caliber for small game is limited to .224 or smaller. A coyote hunter can not be in the field with a caliber larger than .224.

To hunt or shoot anything in Colorado you have to have a license and a hunter safety. The only exception is if you are a designated land manager for private property and working.

Yes you can shoot a coyote if you have an unfilled big game tag. Once the tag is filled you need a small game lic.

Hunter safety does not require kids to be 12. My kids both took their safety courses and passed when they were 8. The age 12 requirement is the age requirement for hunting big game.

As the law is written, he can not shoot a coyote with your gun simply because small game hunters can not carry a rifle larger than .224 unless they have a license themselves.
