I just thought i would throw my two cents in about this issue. First off I think the both of you have valid points. It is sad to see these beautiful animals taken down or having there antlers cut off or having been re-located because they are "too close to human interactions".
Now I live in Jackson Hole, wyoming and to say this is a everyday occurence would be an understatement. literally these animals; elk, deer, bears, moose, etc., live right in town and get along fairly well with the humans. they seem to coexist. however, every now and then you have someone complain and the animals must be put down or the rack cut down or whatever because someone is afraid for there lives around these animals. i personally know of three bears that had to be put down this past spring and fall because they were to close to the humans, it is just sad. i believe that since these animals once considered this place home long before the ski areas, markets, parks, everything else were here, we should respect this and let them be. when someones toys with an animal during its most vulnerable time of the year, these people should not only be ashamed of themselves but they should be fines as well. as far as the rest of your arguement about everyone of these people receiveing some sort of punishment, no offense and i hope you don't take any this is what happens when development gets out of control.
