Back in 1984 I was sitting at home watching the Monday night football game Denver was playing at home it was snowing really bad they were saying it was the storm of the decade I called my hunting buddy Ed told him we need to get to Colorado now. We loaded up our hunting gear and were on the road to Colorado; this was back when you could buy your tags over the counter.
We headed to our old hunting camp in unit 70, opening morning we went in different directions we did not kill anything and the weather turned hot. Day two was the same we seen a lot of bucks but nothing we wanted, but by day three most of the snow was gone we did end up killing two bucks. Ed killed a 22 inch 3x3 and my 24 inch 4x4. I shot my buck late in the evening I dressed it out left it for the night and the next morning we headed back with the horses, on the pack out is when I found this lion kill buck.
I kept this dead head around the house for over 20 years mostly as a conversation piece. My taxi buddy talked me in to mounting it. I told him to make me proud and he damn sure did. Taxidermy work done by lifelike-taxidermy.com operated by Kurt Santoro, and is based out of Madera, California
