Deer Measurments?

I'm just curious what measurments a taxidermist needs to do a shoulder mount. The last deer I mounted was only a few miles away from the road and I quartered the animal and packed the head out whole. I would like to be prepaired to cape the animal out in the field and save some weight packing out just the antlers and cape. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Most if not all the measurements can pulled off the skin. The thing to take note of is something unusual.........like a roman nose and things of that nature. Most compitant Taxidermist can get an accurate measurement off the skin. So don't sweat it
and have a good hunt!!

IdahoSmitty I would take a lot of pics up close and let your taxidermist have a look. If you don't know how to cape one out you can look it up at Taxidermy Net or You Tube might have something on the web. Make sure you leave enough cape for the taxidermist to work with. quest
