Deer up by Bishop

I was up that way last weekend and saw a few bunches of deer in the snowline saw a good bunch about 20 that was about a 1/4 of a mile up into the snow and heading up the trail they was on looked big and wide so it looked like alot of deer had traveled it already, Where are they headed with the snow still pretty thick up above them or will they turn around and come down later in the day.
