Draw question

How does the draw work if a resident and non resident apply on the same application? Do both fall into the 10% non res pool? Just curious. Me and a buddy have quite a few elk points to burn in the next year or two.

Thanks for the help. Good luck out there this year.

YES !!! that is correct on the NO MORE THAN 10% rule for N.R.,now both will be in this n.r. pool. Then add the 20% factor into Your party "App" and no chance for the party to draw a Premium early bull tag or a unit 9 or 23 archery elk tag.Apply seperately, best for BOTH ... Bruce & SilverGrand

Thanks. That's what I thought, but wanted to confirm.

I'm sitting on 15 points for elk. Haven't been able to break away for a hunt and actually apply for anything but a BP since 2000.

If your the res and you got 15 you can draw any archery tag you want. If you are a the NR you can draw any archery tag too. Would be in the run for a unit 9 tag with 16 next year. Ave your points and check your odds as a NR with the different units draw history. Good luck

We are both at 15 points. I know I could get about any archery tag, but i would be coming from overseas and want to try and hunt with an old friend. I'll do the averages and see. Might have to wait until my friend falls in the non res 10% category before we pull the trigger.

Thanks all. Much appreciated. What is the magic number of points for a non res to get an early bull tag these days?
