Yep, what PleaseDear said.

Use to have to call my credit card during our bear hunt each year (May 20 -31) to find out about pending charges.

Last several years had credit card hits and even e-mail notification before we even left on bear hunt on May 20.

Cards last year started being hit the afternoon of may 12 and through may 13. Emails were sent out Friday the 15.

Cards start getting hit mid-May, but the DNR will notify you by the 31st of May.

Exactly! With today's advanced software it should not take several months, They should be able to do the draw a few weeks after the application period ends.

I agree that the process should be condensed, but they can't do the drawing until they run the yearly recommended tag # proposals through the RAC and Wildlife Board. That process does not take place until April (RAC meetings in early April and Board meeting at the end of April).

In a perfect world, I would love to see the DWR do the tag proposal/meeting process a little earlier in March, publish the approved tag #'s BEFORE the application period, and then run a 2-3 week app period, with draw results in a week after the app period and have it all done by mid to end of April. That will never happen, but one can hope!!

count surveys have to be tabulated first before they can decide how many tags to give out. Harvest reports should be able to do that far enough in advance to keep from a summer result only giving a couple of months to prepare...
