Elk in SW Wyoming

i have a hunt in SW Wyoming near Mountain View in October. I've read a lot about the winter impact on deer and antelope but am curious how the elk herd is looking from guys who live in the area. Appreciate any input.

Who’s your hunt with? The elk seemed to do pretty well in the winter here. Some died but there are still elk. Don’t expect a giant bull, every outfitter I know around here won’t put in the work to get you a decent bull when they can shoot one from the truck.

Winter didn't hit the elk like it hit the smaller ungulates. Some big bulls (as in 300 range) but most outfits have clients shoot the first bull they see. Shame what kind of outfits operate in SW WY.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I ended up having an awesome hunt. We got into some late rut action and I heard more bugling on opening morning than I have in my previous 7-8 elk hunts combined. Killed this 6x6 on day three of the hunt.
