Elk Unit 20 help

Hi all,

My dad decided to use his points on unit 20 1st season elk tag. We haven't hunted this unit before. We plan on learning the unit more starting on the weekend before the 4th of July. Anyone hunted or familiar with this unit and/or season willing to share some info? We have access to horses if that is helpful.

Not sure how much i can help but hunted unit 20 once. Lots of private land with limited and land locked public. There are some big bulls that come out of estes but having access to private is key!

Big bulls typically don’t come out till weather forces them, which is why those December tags are harder to get. I would go high and deep into NF if weather allows
