Sweetwater Creek, we went during the first week of November and had a great time. Seen lots of game my son who is nine to an mouflon ram and I hit a pig that I could not find. Had a chance at both an Aoudad and a nice white fallow buck but just could not put it all together. Jim Bob and Eddie were great and took time to take my son out to try and find a pig.
High fence is 8 foot fence that animals supposedly cannot escape from. I"ve seen Whitetails jump those on a daily basis though.
FWIW-- I've seen non game fenced deer way more tame and easy to kill than in some high fences. And vice versa.
On a correctly done fenced area(not a fish in a barrel setup- which is very common unfortunately) the only thing you have guaranteed is that the game or particular animal is there.
I've even helped to find a stag in a 600 acre fenced area. It took us 4 days to find and get a shot at that stag. Seemed easy when we started. Seemed almost impossible by the time it was done.
I dont' care for fences. But if it floats your boat......
There are lots of free ranging exotics out around Rocksprings TX and from there to Kerrville. Call the CC in both and see. Rocksprings has the Baker Ranch which has good animals, both WT and exotics and all free range on about 12000 acres.
I meant to send Kevin this link after you were down here. This guy runs a good operation and has a lot of differnt exotics. I know several guys that have gone there and been happy. He also did some special pricing for kids, but I don't know if college age would qualify.
I was worried that this was going to be a cage hunt but the animals are more weary than the animals I chase on the wasatch. They have been hunted and they know what is going on. We had a great time.
