Aug 2nd it all came together in the Ruby mountains. After a two hour stalk, I was 60 yards above his last bed, however he had relocated 60 yards uphill. As I was trying to locate him below me, I looked across sidehill to figure out my route, and at 15 yards were antlers, and tips of his ears looking straight at me. I instantly drew, and after being at full draw for who knows how long and making all sorts of weird noises with a bone dry mouth, couldn't even whistle at this point, had to let down as he would not stand up. Drew again and started grunting at him as loud as I could when he finally stood up, hit him good and he went about 50-60 yards. Continued to help my partner for the next six days, saw lots of real good bucks, and two exceptional bucks, unfortunately my partner couldn't make it happen. The wind was real tough once the t-storms started. 9 miles in drop camp was the way to go for us, these mountains are tough, although I still ran into a couple who were backpacked in, he killed a nice buck as you'll see below.
Tough hunters, him and his wife/girlfriend, as they packed their camp out that night, came back in the next morning and packed out the meat for a quick 27 miles in about 12 hours time, pretty cool!
Congrats to the other successful hunters I've seen on here and Good luck to all that are still heading out!
Here he is napping
Ran into this fella and his wife on my way out-nice buck!
Back at Camp
Billy that walked in from 200 yards out to just 25 yards
