so who's excited for the late archery hunt in 39? im so pumped it will be the first time I get to hunt that hunt since I joined the military 7 years ago. just sucks to hear all the negative reports on deer populations but either way I cant wait I love Idaho and mule deer hunting with my bow!! Idaho bound in 4 days :)

iv been shooting my bow every night and stareing at the hills wishing for snow haha. I have been either scouting or helping someone hunt since first weekend of july and am pretty jealous of thier success. its my turn!!!

what branch are you in? im in the ANG here in Boise.

Im active AF currently Im stationed at Cannon AFB down here in New Mexico but I would love to get a guard slot there in Boise. also I get to go see TCU/Boise play and see family for thanksgiving been 7 years since I have been home for the holidays, but that's only if I tag out haha jk I think they would kill me!

Im with you on that.I cant wait either,it cant come soon enough.Dont listen to all the negative reports about the deer populations there just not true at least for unit 39.Ive been up a few times this rifle season and saw lots of deer and plenty of bucks.A 22-24 inch 4 point with my bow is just fine for me and i saw lots of them but more people than anything. The bow hunt should have a little less pressure but there will still be lots of bowhunters. If you can hunt without the use of a motorized vehicle and walk a little your in for a good hunt and anyone who disagrees with that probably didnt see much this year off of there 4 wheeler. The deer are getting pretty rutty right now and the colder weather thats predicted will help alot.Good luck I hope you stick a nice one.

yeah i have been scouting since the first weekend in july and have been up every chance i get and we have had tons of success so far this year between my friends and i. I think the reports dont reflect the hardcore hunters haha. just the weekend warriors that road hunt from atv's.

well i think I made good after 9 days of hard hunting I got this guy! He messed up his horns in velvet and thats why he is only a 3 point you can see the ball where the fly's laid their larva

Way to get it done.Looks like an awesome buck.Sounds like you earned it after 9 days hunting with a bow.Congratulations and thanks for taking time to get a picture and post it for us to see.

Are the non-typical points on the g2 and g3's normal for many mule deer or just parts of Idaho because I have never seen so many bucks that's have that as I have the last 2 years hunting Idaho. I'm hunting the SE part of ID and a lot of mature bucks there had it and I see some of the bucks in your picture have it and it is very, very similar. Is it just a lot more common that I realized????
