That was the Methow River in Eastern Washington. Its closed much of the time, but every once in awhile the game department opens it for hatchery fish. I mostly catch and release with my flyrod. Unfortunately they often open it the weekend of or the weekend before hunting season. Fish usually average 8-10 pounds, with the natives being a tad bigger. Every once in awhile a hog slips in. I have caught hundreds of steelhead on this river with only one bigger than her fish. I'm still yelling fowl. Not bad for a first fish.
