I worked for a “self proclaimed” sustainability company that produces products for consumer consumption. No matter what they or any other company may say....”zero emissions, earth friendly, sustainable, green, etc,” it ain’t true. A company came to Utah to produce a food/beverage product. If they produce 150,000 gallons of said product a day, they use 300,000 gallons of water to make it happen...IN THE DESERT (Not to mention the 30,000 amp service that fed the building for POWER) where water supplies are shrinking because populations are increasing and so are the businesses that are “sustainable” and environmentally friendly!
Why wouldn’t an environmentally friendly company conduct an environmental study and find a state that is not impacted by all of the water usage? Why do you think the Great Salt Lake keeps shrinking? We don’t let the water reach the lake any more before we suck it up in our businesses and lawns! Why is this?! Because a manufacturing business doesn’t come to Utah to be SUSTAINABLE....They come here to be PROFITABLE....It is cheaper to operate in Utah than other places and it serves as a centralized distribution hub for the West. Again....big manufacturing businesses are not here for you and I. They are here for themselves and their wallets.
And back on point, electric cars emit a carbon footprint during the manufacturing and transportation process, not to mention everyone involved to design and produce these vehicles leave some sort of carbon footprint.
“Zero emissions” just means “environmentally friendly to the right audience....
“Zero emissions” is no more than a marketing term to make you “feel good” about your purchase.
“Zero emissions” is smoke and mirrors to me.
