A Prayer for our Nation...
: A Pastor With Guts

Subject: A Pastor with GUTS!!

Thought you might enjoy this interesting

prayer given in Kansas at

the opening session of their Senate. It seems

prayer still upsets some

people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open

the new session of the

Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual

generalities, but this is

what they heard:

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask

your forgiveness and to seek your direction and

guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those

who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we

have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed

our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare.

We have killed our unborn and called it choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our

children and called it building self esteem.

We have abused power and called it

politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions

and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and

pornography and called it freedom of __expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values

of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts

today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.

Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number of

legislators walked out during the prayer in

protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian

Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than

5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls

responding negatively. The church is now receiving

international requests for copies of this prayer

from India,Africa and Korea.

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on

his radio program, "The Rest of the Story,"and

received a larger response to this program than any

other he has ever aired.

With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep

over our nation and wholeheartedly become our

desire so that we again can be called "one nation

under God."

If possible, please pass this prayer on to

your friends. "If you don't stand for something,

you will fall for everything."

Think about this: If you forward this

prayer to everyone on your

e-mail list, in less than 30 days it would be

heard by the world.

How many people in your address book will

not receive this prayer.....do you have the guts to pass it on?

Love & God Bless

Do You Believe in God?

NBC this morning had a poll on this question. They had the highest

number of responses that they have ever had for one of their polls,

and the percentage was the same as this:

86% to keep the words, IN God We Trust and God in the Pledge of

Allegiance 14% against.

That is a pretty 'commanding' public response.

I was asked to send this on if I agreed or delete if I didn't.

Now it is your turn .... It is said that 86% of Americans believe in

God.Therefore, I have a very hard time understanding why there is

such a mess about having "In God We Trust" on our money and having

God in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Why is the world catering to this 14%?

AMEN

Wow. That's from 1999 and still circulating, eh? It's true though. He did give that prayer and one Dem did walk out and several more gave speeches against it. The Paul Harvey and Today show poll part may or may not be true...they were added to the email later.

It's a nice prayer. Good sentiments. The guy's got guts.

I'LL BET 86% OF AMERICANS BELIEVE IN "A" GOD, THERES NOT MUCH OF A CHANCE ITS THE SAME GOD I KNOW. THERE TOO MANY DIFFERENT FOLLOWINGS, GROUPS,BELIEFS,OPINIONS, & GODS OUT THERE FOR A VAST MAJORITY TO AGREE ON 86%. (86% OF SPORTMEN CANT AGREE ON MUCH). JUST THE FACTS, YD.

Very well said YD, bravo. I think of God as a spirit, or force, sort of the Native American way of thinking. TFinal correct me if need, I think the name was Washemoneto? One thing's for sure, a definition of god existed well before political party lines ever did....

And "under one god" should be as simple as everyone meeting halfway. Stubbornness is the heir of stupidity. No one man is 100% right, ever.

Good point YD'

we need more people like that preacher in the pulpits of America, cause many have compromised their faith and have given in to all that was stated in the prayer, sooooo it's not just the average Joe or politicians who need to read that but the church as a whole...
