Has anyone ever hunted bears?

I'm looking to pick up a bear tag for second or third season because I have seen big tracks and a lot of sign where I hunt this year. Does anyone have suggestions on which season to pick it up for? I am getting one of those tags that are only available if you have a deer or elk tag.

I posted this in the predator forum as well but nobody was home.

I have not but I am picking up a tag as well. I have seen six this week alone so I figure I might as well give it a go.

Third season may be a bit late for a bear tag. It could be better hunting for deer and elk though.

They start winding down by 1st rifle elk. If you did run into a bear after that time it would probably be a older boar. I have never seen a bear after that 2nd week of October. Good luck !

Ok I definitely wont pick up the tag for third season then. Thanks for the info.
