Has anyone observed this happening.

We have a place outside of Flagstaff. Up until that last 2 years we had noticed how we were not seeing the number of deer we had seen over the prior years. However, the last 2 years we have been seeing more deer. In fact this spring/summer we have seen substantially more than we have in many years.

Is is just our luck this year, or is this something others have been seeing?

I think it goes it cycles.. If you are talking about 11m I think the more people are out there hiking and walking here dogs they are scaring the deer and they are moving a lot more so we are seeing them more often. I am not sure if there are any less or more total deer.

If you are talking about the surroundings areas 5b, 6a, 6b, 7e, 7w I think the deer numbers are down. A lot more elk though.

At least so far this year I have not seen the deer numbers that you are referring to

Nearly all the deer I see in 6a are within 3/4 of a mile of civilization. See quite a few deer very close to morman lake lodge, and homes around flag. I actually think they feel safer closer to the homes and humans. Last year I spent a lot of time scouting for deer in 6a. Other than the places I mentioned already the only mule deer I consistently saw were on a ridge 20 miles away from any type civilization.

Overall mule deer numbers have dropped substantially over past 20-22 years throughout entire state (below colorado river)IMO. Maybe 1/4 of the mule deer today compared to mid 80's.
