Well my once in a lifetime goat tag is done. We hiked in Sunday the 8th about 8-9 miles and glassed up three goats. they all turned out to be Billies and two of them looked really good. We watched them all evening until they bedded for the night.

Opening morning came and we glassed all three up in the same spot but they were all at different elevations now. The smallest being the highest with the other two big ones being a little lower. We took about 30 minutes to decide the best route up to them and headed straight up.

About two hours later we were in postion to get a shot off on the lowest Billy. We figured he was going to fall off of few cliffs so we waited for him to get into a postion where he might stop after the first cliff. after a few minutes I took the shot. he fell straight down and started rolling... first cliff.... then second cliff... now if he didnt stop now he was going to fall about 1500 feet off several more cliffs. As luck would have it he stopped. I have no idea how he did it but he came to a complete stop on very steep grass side hill.

After high fives and hugs we made a game plan on the best route up to him. two hours later i had my hands on my first ever Billy Goat. Still on cloud nine!!!

Awesome Mtn Goat- hope to sling an arrow into one in the next few years if the drawing goes my way.

Way to go!! That looks like a fantastic goat. I killed one last year in ID it was such an awesome experience. I'm sitting on about 12 points there in UT so ?? I'll have another ounce in a life time chance at a goat ?

Congratulations. He's a dang good one. Sounds like a fun hunting adventure to me.

Way to go! Awesome animal, country, and experience. Thanks for sharing. I pray that one day I get to do that exact same thing!

I'm jealous. Looks like a great time with close friends. I can't imagine the horror you experienced watching him tumbling over those cliffs. Turns out a little tape fixes all. Great job
