So, how will rolling power blackouts affect people's plans for this summer? Anyone in danger of losing game meat if blackouts become the "norm"?

Could this affect summer scouting trips if you have to monitor a home's refrigeration and can't be gone for more than a day at a time? What about fuel costs to run a generator just to keep your refrigerator and/or freezer running?

It's a sad state of affairs NM is facing. First, we lost our trapping season due to clueless legislation. Now, the state's power grid looks like it could be compromised...
 
So, can it still be a coal plant if Enchant buys it? And who provides oversight of PNM, because that’s who decided to shut the plant down.

Everyone could see it was obviously going to happen when the coal mine had to go underground 15 or 20 years ago.

Regardless of whether the plant was scheduled to be shut down this summer anyway, I completely agree that NM government is a liberal dumpster fire.
 
I feel sorry for those conservatives in New Mexico, the liberals are getting what they deserve. Just a shame what is happening to the hunting and fishing lifestyle
 
Uh guys…..this decision was made a decade ago. This is sensationalistic electioneering.

There is no question that these plant closures will have a devastating effect on the local economies.

Fun fact. Ol bluehair’s first ”real job” (engineer in the title) was on Navajo Mine across the road. That was 1982, and I’ve been kickin around in the plants/mines pretty much ever since.

Yes, we know it was made a decade ago. But, is still, a decade later, a horrible decision. The fact that they had ten years to come up with an alternative plan, and did absolutely nothing, makes it even worse.

It’s a sad deal when NM is leading the charge for the left wing agenda and propaganda! The puppet in Santa Fe is the puppet to the administration that literally stole the presidency who is in turn the puppets to the global elite .

I’m sure many of you know as soon as you cross state lines in any direction it seems like a different world!.

These people use any leverage they have to ram their agenda down our throats. The power plant play is a push to drive us to install solar? Go green? NM is a different demographic than states like California, Washington, Oregon, and we’re suffering the sting of communism as bad or worse now.

Last night a bunch of bills passed the socialist legislation……..
Grisham already knows the outcome of our upcoming state election and NM is going to suffer even more for another 4 years.

I love NM and never thought I’d be considering leaving but that’s where I am now.

We are leaving, it's a matter of timing for us now. The only thing to make us stay is an extreme miracle of some kind to bring balance back to the state government the way it was. But, at least the $0.35 fuel tax didn't pass.

The problem with converting to "green" is that it's not sustainable. You can't have that much battery storage on a massive national scale, or a state level for that matter.

Renewables have always been a compliment to fossil fuel, not a substitute.
 
There will never be a substitute for fossil fuels! It’s a damn shame our beautiful state is at the mercy of progressives!
Makes me think back to when billy the kid tried exposing the Santa Fe ring , and wanted the political corruption brought to light! We need a modern day version of the Lincoln county regulators!
 
It is a sad state of affairs. Look at California, rolling blackouts every year because it is not sustainable. They think that they are doing something positive for "Mother Earth", but don't realize how much pollution is created and fossil fuels are consumed by producing batteries and the necessities to run "green" electric. But, the liberals are too dumb to realize it. I have never wanted to leave this state either, but am considering it at the moment. Crime through the roof, education tanking, economy horrible, but they pass a 1 billion dollar boost for government spending!!!!
 
I hope, come November, everyone remembers the last 2 years and those who have done their damnest to destroy this country.

who WILL take your freedoms and your rights. If you let them.

Hopefully school districts start to drop the muzzle requirement like a bad habit.

Unfortunately, any district that has a reservation tied to it, will likely keep it until that "nation" or pueblo drops theirs...
 
They won't. Las Cruces Public Schools is already saying they won't. The sad thing, it's been a hoax this whole time. They've known masks don't stop it. Higher ups in the CDC have been recorded admitting it. Continued it until Canada, CANADA, protests it. They knew it was coming here. They know the gig is up.


EDIT: Just got the email from LCPS that they are dropping masks.

If Texas had our mountains, our green chile, I'd be outta here and move. But they don't, gotta work to educate those independents and moderate Democrats as to who is to blame for our state being bottom Feeders

The memory of what they did the past two years needs burn bright up through November as a reminder of the havoc they've caused in this state.

Those would be talking point facts, and not just a "TDS" effect. The single most damaging aspect of their two years will be the energy transition act (ETA), second only to the approval of full term abortion. This action alone will make the state defunct in revenues it depends on. Pixie power isn't sustainable and without revenues from fossil fuels, the pixie power will not make up the difference.

The only way it could is to market the power at a higher rate, digging deeper into the pockets of the New Mexico citizen.

The saving grace for NM now is to make the state legislature a super majority of common sense people to significantly amend this damaging and brain-dead piece of legislation...

I have had this conversation many times with my wife and daughters , but once I retire as much as I hate to leave I think we will be moving out of state as well. MLG is the worst most disgusting person to ever sit as governor of NM , IMAGINE THAT! Bill Richardson was a real POS and this nasty umpa loompa cow is worse IMO! And democratic NM falls in right behind her sorry butt at the voting polls! If you read this and your a democrat who voted for her , and Biden , YOU ARE THE REASON OUR COUNTRY & state are falling into the dumpster fire it is ...

I Totally get your frustration Rio, i have said often if Texas had our mountains I'd be gone....but they don't. Too cold up north with states that have beautiful mountains. I love NM for the massive outdoor opportunities, our hunt draw system, 4 district seasons of which none are to harsh. Hang with us Rio and work hard to Inform independents and moderate Democrats within our amazing state to vote out the wacko liberals presently running our state .
 
Even the republicans there are liberal wackos; only way to get elected there.

I agree with what you say about NM outdoors, but there are some places i sure wouldn’t spend the night along side the road. Crime is the main reason I avoid it anymore.

NM's politics for the past 3 years has rivaled, and is second only, to CA. Abq is now #1 in the nation for crime per capita.

I had opportunities years ago to escape this, the land of entrapment, but opted out due to the whole "family obligations" thing. Biggest mistake ever....
 
Albuquerque, and now Las Cruces are skyrocketing in crime rate, because people are simply being allowed to commit crimes and nothing is done. I remember an article from a while back, in Las Cruces, a guy robbed a bank, while out on OR (Own recognizance) bail, meaning he didn't have to pay to get out, for two separate felonies previously. So, the bank robbery was his third strike, which used to be a big thing. But, the two previous felonies are still pending, because instead of having a bail placed, he was allowed to get out while paying nothing. His bail for the bank robbery was a WHOPPING $5,000. Meaning he only had to put up $500 cash, and the rest could be properties or the such. Our politicians wonder why our crime is skyrocketing, that is why. I personally know someone who has over five pending drug felonies (a family member who chose the wrong path), and has been released on OR every time. Five different felony arrests, with some carrying more than one felony, and gets out on OR every time.
 
I agree with everything regarding the crime in abq. I live 30 minutes from downtown in the mountains east of town. Its safe here as its a remote one way road in and everyone looks out for each other ....most are armed. George Sorrous funded the campaign of our Bernalillo County DA ...enough said !!!
 
So, here's a conspiracy theory twist for you I saw the other day: MLG suddenly drops the mask requirement without any narrative, without any discussion.

People get used to going back to like as they knew it. Cases jump up, a few deaths are recorded. The emergency health order (that wasn't officially rescinded the other day by the way) is reenacted in full force allowing for an emergency legislative session to allow mail in ballots again this year since the voting bill died.

- OR -

Cases jump up, a few deaths are recorded, the health order is reenacted with the narrative of "see, my measures did work and I am here to keep you safe" and those that quickly forget and vote for her sorry self again and bring in another 4 years of 'The Gong Show'.


Nobody will ever convince me that this whole debacle wasn't used for political gain and purpose...

? right! This cow tried to pass a bill for 16 year olds to vote! Illegals to vote!! It’s a conspiracy for sure buddy not a theory! They stole what is supposed to be the most secure and most sacred election in 2020 ! Seth Keshel broke down a heat sensor type map of election fraud per state for the presidential election and NM and California were the worst! I’m convinced this umpa lumpa has already “WON” NM in November.

If Ronchetti (spelling?) doesn't get the nomination and a certain other person does, it will be an uphill battle for 'ol short-stack to be reelected.

If that weather guy gets the nomination, it will be a repeat of 2018...

Yup, but not sure is officially retired, pretty sure he achieved the rank of General. Regardless of those details ( a proven Leader) I've meet numerous times with him. .... one sharp guy .

Rebecca Dow seems pretty solid, and, she is currently in the NM Legislature as a House member. She's been front and center the past two years and has a little more of an inside track of what's going on being privy to legislative discussions.

May be the best and ideal candidate to defeat that bad repeat with nothing to run on but flunky outcomes.
 
Roadrunner, with all due respect, he is Much More than just an abq financial advisor. I'll support whichever GOP candidate that makes it through the primary but I encourage all here to listen and learn from Zanetti, one sharp man .

Jay Block is the retired USAF Lt. Col.
 
Three major topics of importance for NM in this year's political races:

1) NM's economic outlook and stability (hint; pansy power and movies ain't it)
2) Education
3) Crime (includes metro and illegal border activity)

The best candidate will have a solid plan for each of those.

I know you have your chosen preference, that totally fine. However lets not do what Democrats do by inappropriately defaming a solid Patriot . Greg is solid and has earned the right to be in the mix as our next GOP nominee. Hats off to Jay Block for his service as well .

You know what. You took it personally and thought I was making an attack against your choice, and, you summed it up quite nicely above with your statement. I merely stated that he was a financial advisor, clearly, since both in question had high ranking military careers.

If it makes you feel better, I will refer to that other guy as just the county commissioner...

How does New Mexico receive conservative god fearing families? Me and my wife are looking to move south when the kids graduate. We love Montana, but my wife can’t handle the winters and the hunting has gone down hill. I lived in Farmington in 2001 and can’t imagine how bad it is now. I hope you guys can change the political system down there

My family came here in the 70's. If not, I never would have chosen to live here. Even though I love the climate, the nature, and a lot about the state. Just wish we could get some things straightened out. Seems to be going in the wrong direction.
