Opening morning success. Saw about 10 of them in this herd. Largest I saw and figured it was a male. It wasn't. I weighed it at 53 lbs. Blackpowder at 82 yards.

Congratulations! I have never shot one but should capitalize on it in the near future and go kill one. I was told that you skin them opposite of most game from the belly up so that you don’t cut the gland on their back, or something like that. Is that true ?
 
Being careful not to cut the glad. It's a little bubble on the back. Yes I did start at the belly and work my way up. Just don't cut into it. I believe the meat will be ruined. Back straps are small and not much meat on the front end. The rear legs have quite a bit of meat on them. That is if you shot a big one. Good luck. Bring your spotting scope get up high and spot them.
