Just Wonderin?

I was just wonderin if anyone on here is from the Gunnison area, and how you did huntin in 08?

I've been in Gunnison since '99. I drew a 4th season elk tag in 54, either sex. Saw about 2 dozen elk in 5 days of hunting, never got a shot. I tagged along with some bow hunters in 55 in Oct. We saw a fair number of elk and both hunters came close more than once. I saw the biggest bull I've ever seen around here too. I still haven't drawn a deer tag. From my experience the deer got hammered last winter. During the late elk hunt the deer were scarce, saw maybe 30 total. In years past we would see hundreds of deer each day.

I was born and raised in Gunnison, i moved from there about 2 years ago. I did not draw up there this year. I did a little bow huntin this year up in Taylor. lets hope the winter is not to rough on them this year.

Another hard winter would really be bad. I'm hoping for mild temps and average snow. Did you see any animals in Taylor? We were hunting near Fossil Ridge.
