Greetings to all - unfortunately I was unsuccessful in the drawing, but I plan to be camping there over Labor Day weekend plus a few days. I suppose this post may come off a little unusual but I'm 61 now, retired, living in southern Utah, and have a lot of experience with the Kaibab, esp. the bowhunt, that I would like to pass on to someone. I know some good spots to hunt where I've concentrated my effort over the years. I worked w/USFS on the North Kaibab for a couple of years and first bowhunted there in '71, and have subsequently hunted it w/bow & rifle 15 different times. As a non-resident my odds of drawing a tag are pretty slim, but I love to spend time there whenever I can. I've been a MM follower for quite a few years and have been fortunate enough to share some good hunting experiences with several folks thru MM. I'd like to share my "institutional knowledge" of the Kaibab with those who may be interested, even if it is just sharing some PM's or a meeting on the Kaibab around Labor Day. I've hunted all over the West (MT, UT, WY, OR, CO, NM, AZ, and Alaska), but the Kaibab is my favorite! Thanks in advance for your interest.

Your a very generous man. Not many people willing to give up spots. Hope I can pick your brain in the next few years. Thanks

You are a exactly what this world needs, people should give back our hunting traditions should not go to the grave with us. That said to many people want free handouts and not do any work for there trophy. Rockymtnhunter Thank you!!!

Do you know 12b west early riffle. If so i will be thankful for any help.

Thank you for the generous comments - I've heard from a number of MM users and have shared some info with them, and rec'd some good advice in return - I hope this is helpful & I enjoy hearing back from you. Good luck to all of you and enjoy the North Kaibab! It's a special place...

My 17 yr.old and 13 yr.old drew the 12A west early tags. I live in Utah. Any tips would be great, they are very excited to hunt the Kaibab. There first choice was the Late hunt, so we were anxiously waiting for the results to come out to see if they had the late hunt. They would both love to fill there tags with nice bucks. Send me PM with any info. you can spare. Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Rocky, I got a Kaibab Archery tag and would love any advise you could send me. I usually hunt it towards the North end not too far from the Canyon. What are yor thoughts on this spot? Should I be concentrating my efforts somewhere else? Thanks

Sent you a PM - and a note for others - I'm trying to be careful about sharing info/insights - The North Kaibab is big country and I'll give just enough hints to let you scout & learn it yourself and find your own sweet spots...

I'd like to talk with you.
I have hunted the Kaibab for deer and Bison since 1988.
I also worked on the North Rim and met my wife there.
Please send a pm if interested.

In the area we hunt we saw just as many bucks, if not more, than the last three years, but we only saw a couple of what I would consider trophy class 180+ bucks this year, not sure if growth was down, or our areas just weren't holding them as much this year.

I know it is the off season, but my duck season has slowed due to the dry weather here. would love your help in 2014. I have 8 pts and plan on bow hunting the Kaibab for mule deer this coming season.
