LAST EDITED ON Aug-04-07 AT 05:16PM (MST)[p]After the ranch my dad and I were supposed to hunt was sold literally days before our hunt was to take place, JFRWC helped me find this ranch west of Roswell. Helpful travel hint: When in Roswell, DO NOT make smart ass alien jokes, they don't think its funny. Anyway, I tore a muscle in my knee wandering around camp the day before opening day, and that made the hunt miserable for me. I could barely walk on flat ground, but managed to will my way about 2 miles the first morning, which lead me to this guy feeding out in a flat with a couple does. Not the biggest, but with my limited mobility I took what I could get. Forgive the blurry pics, my dad doesn't know how to use a digital camera. He actually asked me where the magnesium powder goes in this new fangled contraption.
This is for the people who gripe about nobody smiling in pictures.
My dad's buck. He was chasing several bucks in this draw and thought he was shooting at a bigger one. While he was chasing these, from my vantage point I watched a very nice 4x4 strolling along the ridge about 200 yards away from my dad. By the time he figured out what I was frantically screaming and flailing my arms about, the buck was gone.
And some scenery and critter pictures.
We're going to try and go there again this year if I can get the time off work. I'm already taking 2 weeks off to go to Idaho after bear.
