When said prairie dog was harvested, were you wearing a FLAT BRIMED HAT? and if so was it turned backwards.
Seriously, I once harvested a coyote at what I guessed to be 430 to 450 yards with a gut shot and I didn't feel bad a out it, and still don't but if that would have been a buck or bull I'm sure I would feel terrible about it. I have also trapped, snared, and barbwired coyote dens as a youngster and don't loose any sleep over it. I guess it has something to do with respecting an Animal. I come from a ranching/farming background, vermin mice, rats, muskrats, foxes prairie dogs and coyotes are more like pesky flies that need swatting. So if your hat had a bent brim, I sat blast away at the vermin.
