Manti help.

Hi everyone,
I have been a long time lurker here on MM.

I have a Manti archery tag this year, and my good friend that has hunted it for years that was going to be helping me prepare for this hunt, heartbreakingly passed away due to complications from COVID along with some other things non of us, including him knew he was battling. If it wasn’t for the new point surrendering rules I would probably turn the tag back in, but I know my dear friend would call me all sorts of names and phrases for doing it, so I’m going to push forward in his honor.

I have been down scouting the last 3 weekends and I have not seen any elk. I have seen several dozen deer and thousand of sheep! As it is said in any post like this I’m not looking for any honey holes......even though I’ll take it if you want to share......just a chance to take a bull. This is a once in a lifetime hunt for me and I’d like to make the most of it in remembrance of my buddy! Thank y’all in advance.

Be patient. I have hunted this unit a few times with archery and the bulls are in the thick until it starts to cool down. Give them a few more weeks and they will start to appear. I don't know how to send a message to just you but I would be willing to share some info if you know how to send a personal message.

Send me a PM, I can give you a solid starting point on the south end of the unit. It’s been several years since I’ve archery hunted there, but I’m certain it still holds bulls, I always heard or ran into them there around the first weekend in September.

As cathunter said, they’re there!
It’s been a few years for me like deerkiller, but I could help you at the northern end of the unit...
Shoot me a PM, and I’ll try to help!

Saw 60+ elk on a trail ride on the north end of the unit on the 4th holiday. Even heard a few spike bugles after a thunder shower passed through. My experience is that early on you have to get a ways off the roads and away from the ATV traffic to see elk. Glass the old burns 30 min each side of sunrise and sunset. Of course the rules change if/when the bulls fire up in Sept.
