Hey guys I'm pretty excited, I drew my first out of state hunt this year. I'm sure I might have some company in this area but I would like to get as far away from people as I can. Me and a buddy drew the UT early wasatch west deer tag. I grew up in idaho and have hunted there all my life. I have found google earth to be a big help finding new places to hunt but I have had a hard time finding good maps to take to the feild and to mark up places to checkout.

Anyone have any specific maps they have and love? Any recommendations. I have a garmin Oregon and the software. But I would like a really detailed topo I think.
Any info would be great. Also is there any tutorials online anywhere to help learn how to read a topo map for scouting deer and or hunting?

Does anyone have any specific info on which map would be best for The Wasatch area?

I have always used google maps, you can change it to satellite, topo, and so on. I can tell you to stay away from Dimond Fork, and Hobble Creek Right fork, as the road hunters swarm that area, same with the pass going from lower Left fork to Provo Canyon. Those places get beat to hell on the rifle. The Muzzle Loader and Bow are good with these places but rifle hunters like to ride the roads. I also know the deer herd around Wallsberg Utah has taken a hit this is in your boundary as well. I hope this is good information for you, to start you scouting.

Once you know where you want to have a map, you custom design your own in the exact spots you want. Pretty reasonable price for what you get.

Thanks for the info guys.

Do you guys have info, tips or suggestions on places to help speed up my learning curve to using maps and the Internet for scouting? I wish I could just put boots to the ground do bad just not gonna happen for a couple months.
