It's a secondary authorization method, usually a text to your phone mostly used for online banking.

MFA is a Cybersecurity measure, that helps to keep cyber criminals from accessing your account with only your password (which are relatively easy to steal). It verifies that you have the password provided, along with another device associated with you (your phone number). It will get more and more common in the coming years.
