I was just curious to see what some of you guys think about shoulder mounting your own heads. I have a friend who does it and has a flesh all mini flesher. His work looks fine to me (untrained eye)
If I wanted to learn to mount my own deer I have a few
questions for the pro's or experienced.
Would it be smart to buy and learn to use a mini flesher for my own mounts and tan them myself? Save up and buy a nice flesher like a Dakota IV? or would it be smart to send the capes away to be tanned by someone else and not mess with fleshing and tanning? If the answer is send them away, how long does it usually take to get back? How much does this usually cost?
I guess I am asking for advice about the best way to learn how and produce great looking mounts for myself and friends. At most I would be doing 3 mounts a year.
Is there anything specific you would recommend for a beginner?
Anyone know of any good dvd's or kit's that are great for beginners?
