RE: Monster
I went to the Dutton on the 10th, 11th, & 12th chasing this rumor of a monster bull on Flake Mountain. The rumor was that Doyle and/or some of his super guides were watching a GIANT bull in the area, so I figured we could go check it out and see how they handle intruders first hand. Well, we couldn't find anyone from the Mossback posse. Evidently they're not as mean as they're made out to be. They wouldn't even stick around long enough to ask a few questions. Oh well, someday I'll find one of them while I'm out and about. We didn't see very many Elk either but we did see lots of ATV's (all on the roads believe it or not) driving around with camo'd bow hunters that smelled like store bought elk pee. I never saw another hunter on foot, only on the roads driving ATV's. Good for us and the elk, not so good for the hunters. Everyone we talked with said the elk weren't talking at all, and we never heard a bugle, except for our own. It was still a good time, and a great primer for me and my upcoming Muzzle loader Elk hunt on the Monroe. Maybe I'll get a chance to meet one of the super elusive posse members while I'm hunting - they would be welcome in my camp anytime and I'm sure they would have alot of great stories and info to share. If you're an official Mossback guide, PM me and I'll give you coordinates to my camp so you can stop by for a snack and a drink. I would love to talk with you.
