Moose rack in the ice

i found a moose rack frozen in the ice last spring. i happened to bump into the pictures today on my pc and thought i would share them with all of you.

the country...

i see a tine in that patch of grass...

tough to see what it is even up close...

this is when i gave up trying to free it from it's icy grave...

oh well, it was pretty old anyway. i didn't have the right stuff with me to dig it out, so i marked it with my gps and left it. i do not plan to go back because there are plenty of other, better areas here in alaska to find moose sheds, so if you want it come and get it...

I think you did the right thing by leaving it. That would be quite a project. I would bet that the bottom side is frozen in the mud way far. Having had the experience of chipping out several elk heads I would have left that ol moose too! Thanks for sharing the pics tho.
