I am curious what type of mine and where you saw them that weren't reclaimed properly? I am guessing they were old mines? It happens occasionally when a mine goes bankrupt, but now days they are all bonded and have to hold that money for reclamation.

That makes sense Elk, the reason they have so many regs now is because how often the old timers decided to just cut and run! Some might not even be on the clean up list because they are so old and unknown. I would bet you could send GPS coordinates to DOGM.....if you weren't worried about giving up your honey hole!

Bess it will be interesting to see what happens with that piece of $hit tar sands project in the Books.When I first went to the Books in 1977 there was a place just down the road off the divide towards moon and steer ride.It was call U-tar they walk away from it and you can still see it today.Old tanks and equipment are still there.

I don't think that new place has done anything for over a year. The thing that pisses me off is the BLM keeps letting these dip $hit move in and not One of them has made it work.So I wonder how long the BLM will let that one sit there before they make them clean up there mess.5,10,15 years.
