If you had $600 for a muzzleloader/scope what would you buy? I’m looking to get into muzzleloader hunting a lot more but want a decent setup that could possibly reach out there a little bit.

id do the same make as what zeke said, but i think i would go with the 4.5-14X40 with the CDS zero lock turret.

CVA Accura V2 with the Nitride Bergara barrel. You can get the gun for about $500. You may end up a little over $600 total, but not much with the scope. Vortex Diamondback 3X9 for under $200 will do. You can always upgrade the scope later if you'd like. CVA's are shooters for the price...

CVA Accura V2 black stock with stainless. No need to spend money on all the pretty stuff that just cost more money for basically the same gun. Throw a Vortex Diamondback on it and you have your $600 gun/scope that you will be happy with for a long time. Get a Black Horn 209 breach plug for it and use 84 gr by weight of Black Horn 209 powder, Barnes 290 gr TMZ bullet, throw the sabots away that come with them and replace them with Harvester yellow boat tail crushed rig sabots, and a CCI 290 mag primer. Deadly set up for the budget that you have. I love mine and it is a shooter. I have played with it out to 400 yards but I don’t plan on shooting that far at a animal. I don’t brag about long shot, I like the close shots to keep it real. The muzzleloader hunt is my favorite. Fun stuff. I still wish Utah only allowed 1x scopes but I succumbed to the new rule and just put a veritable scope on mine this year. Good luck.
