Okay deadeye,
Here are a few tid bits of truth
1- this post is 100% just being a smart ass
2- I say I don't want to cause drama, then post a 509 yard shot. Yep that was the plan because I know a few people will go into seizures hearing the yardage. If it doesn't line up with their views 100%, it's wrong. If you don't like hearing 500 yards, pull up your skirt.
3- yes I own a bow and have killed plenty of animals with it. I do it all, rifle, muzz, archery. Some of my biggest animals are with bow but that doesn't make them any more special.
4- yes I fell face down ass up in the creek with my buck on my back.
4.5- I posted this thread being a smart ass because there are too many holier-than-thou D bags that think their way is the only way. Is 509 yards too far of a shot? Maybe for you. But I'm not going to let your shooting skills, or lack of, keep me from being successful. I don't care if you think 500 yards is unethical or just shooting and not hunting. I know my limitations and when I find the animal I want to take, I'm going to give him a dirt nap if I know i can make the shot. If I kill a 200" buck at 60 or 500 the satisfaction is the same.
Bottom line is this.... far to many members here have posted their story for all to enjoy, only to get blasted that they are full of crap on the score, or they are not a true hunter, call names, ect.
Now don't get me wrong. ... I'm all for being responsible. There are hunters that should never shoot 600 yards at an animal because they can't consistently make the shot, but they still take it. But there are also hunters that shouldn't shoot 150 yards. If you can't consistently make kill shots you shouldn't shoot and it doesn't matter if it's 50 yards or 500. Know your limitations. 200 yards is an unethical shot for some people.
In closing I'd like to say I really don't care. I don't care some think 500 yards is too far. I don't care if you think it's just shooting. I don't care what the holier-than-thou thinks. Because at the end of the day I hunt for me. I hunt because I enjoy being in the mountains. I am a very picky hunter and when I find the animal I want, I close in to a range I know he's dead. I Spent over 30 days in Wyoming this year between scouting and hunting. I passed many bucks and chose to kill this one towards the end. I did it for me because I enjoy it.
Love me or hate me I don't care. Call it hunting or shooting it doesn't matter. Red jacket, green jacket who gives a sh!t
