So here you guys go. Here is are some pics of the bull i killed this friday morning on the cwmu. We hunted for 6 days and passed on A LOT of really good bulls. I also passed several bulls at 12 yards and less. We just could not get on some of the bigger bulls we found earlier in the week. I had a blast though and ended up with this very nice old feller. So heres the story. Friday morning we decided to go to a location we had scouted the night before. We did not see as many bulls in this location as the other one we were hunting, but the bulls we did see, seemed to be a little bigger on average. So friday morning we waited till the sun started to come up enough for us to get up ontop and not bump anything. we walked a ways and heard the bulls bugling ahead of us. They had not crossed the road we were parked on, which is what we were hoping for. We ran back to the truck and headed up the road a bit further. When we got to a good vantange point we could here the bulls coming and see the cows crossing the road about 200 yards ahead of us. We went ahead and got the 338 lapua set up. We were watching a good size herd of bulls heading down a hill and across the road. Stinky was watching the bulls in the road and i saw this big guy coming down the hill. I knew that instant that he was the one i wanted. He appeared to have long beams and no broken tines. He was definatly "the boss" of the herd. I told stinky, "thats the one i want, im shooting him" well, stinky only had a second to see him before he disappeared in the bottom. I went ahead and started watching the place all the elk were crossing through my scope. about 5 minutes or what felt like 6 hrs later, this big guy came busting outta the bushes and horned a couple of rag horns. Well all the while bessy and clint are standing there watching and waiting. Stinky was telling me "dont shoot that one, dont shoot the one on the right, watch out for that cow....blah blah blah.....i wasnt listening. He stepped out, and turned with his butt to me but slightly at an angle looking over his left shoulder at me, and BOOM! or is should say "pop" and it was all over. I lost sight of him in the scope, and all the guys are yelling hes down, its over! I was yelling are you sure and they were saying yes.... He dropped. He never moved a muscle, or twitched or kicked. It was AWESOME!!!! We went over to him and he was laying right there, on the side of the road. Needless to say, it was an easy pack job for the boys.
