LAST EDITED ON Dec-26-07 AT 11:05AM (MST)[p]I went out yesterday morning in Montana and took a huge muley buck! It was one of the most intense and exciting hunts of my life!!!
I hadn't seen much all morning, but about 10:00 I came over a rise, and using my spotting scope, I spotted two bucks locked up in a fight! They were both big, but one was the biggest non-typical I have ever seen. They were about 400 yards away. The bigger one immediately sensed that somethin was wrong and broke off the fight. As he turned to leave I got a good steady rest, and with one shot from my .270, I dumped him! Believe me, there was no ground shrinkage on this buck! The mass is unbelievable. Ten points on one side and eight on the other! I didn't score him yet, but I bet 225 is conservative!
It was the best hunt of my life, mostly because all three of my grandsons were on this hunt with me and witnessed the whole thing.(Ages 6-13) When the buck went down for good, the cheers and high fives really put a smile on my face. Only a grandpa could understand the joy and pride of a moment like that! All three are very proud of their grandpa, and it doesn't get any better than that!
The really great thing is you too can experience a hunt like the one we had. All you need is a Nintendo Wii and Cabelas Big Game Hunt game!( my Christmas present to them)
Thanks for letting me share! It's on to a bear hunt this afternoon! Wish us luck!
