My Lion Hunt!

I was lucky enough (after 5 years) to draw a lion tag on a premium unit and was able to harvest this bad boy yesterday!

Cool, lets hear the story and see some field pictures. What state where you in? I didn't know that you had to draw a lion tag anywhere. Guess you learn something new everyday. Congrats

Thanks for the help Tuff! First of all, Utah has two different seasons--the 1st season starts around Thanksgiving and runs for about 2 months, this is the limited entry hunt. After that, the harvest objective hunt starts--hunters can buy over the counter tags but have to check in every morning to make sure the unit is still open. Basically, the LE tag gives hunters the first whack at the big cats and the best conditions. I was able to harvest this cat last Tuesday about a 1/2 mile away from my house--he's 8' long!
