New camera recomendations

I have about 2k for a new video camera, what
would you experts recomend, I have done some
filming this year with my camcorder and 200 yds.
is about the max that it is good for. I want
a camera that's good out to 500yds.

My dad has been thinking about this for quite some time and I'd like to get him a really nice one with a tripod for christmas.

GL-2 GL-2 GL-2 GL-2! IT CAN NOT BE BEAT. I JUST RETURNED FROM AN ELK HUNT WITH MY DAD, I DID NOT GET MUCH FOOTAGE BUT I DID GET A NICE 350ISH BULL ON FILM FROM ABOUT 650 TO 700 YARDS AWAY, THE GL-2 HAS A GREAT LENS AND A GREAT ZOOM, 20X. BEST IN THE CAMCORDER RELM. THIS CAMERA IS BY FAR THE BEST DEER/ELK/OUTDOOR STUFF CAMERA!
