Anybody every try the 2 day minimum guided hunt in NM? Seems like it would be cool to be pointed in the right direction to start. Even better to tag out in the first 2 days…
If anybody has tried this out before let me know how it went and if you would recommend the outfitter again.

Yep. Two-day guide service gets you into the outfitter allocation, but that's all its really worth. Increases your odds in most NM units. Never done it, but friends who have competed with full-paying guided clients, but still managed to kill elk.

Depends on the individual. I muzzleloader hunted a unit in 2019 for deer, and saw more elk than deer. I put in last year (2020), for the 1 outfitter allocated tag for that unit and drew. I was hunting alone, never killed an elk before, but i knew where to go from the year before. I killed my bull the 1st day, a good mile in. I just needed help getting it out. My experience with the 2 day minimum was perfect, exactly what i needed.
